Abstract:

Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenates (G6PD) deficiency is the most common defects of red blood cells among Iranian and Mediterranean people. Hypothyroidism is defined as thyroid hormone deficiency starting from the time of birth. Thyroid hormones influence the activity of lipogenic enzymes such as glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and malic enzyme. This study aimed to determine the rate of hypothyroidism in patients with G6PD deficiency. After 120 days, the newborns that administered drug and diet for hypothyroidism were checked for TSH and G6PD enzyme. 2287 out of 23260 screened babies were afflicted with favism (512 females and 1775 males). 42 cases were hypothyroid among who 35 had G6PD deficiency. However, after 120 days of treatment with Levothyroxine, 23(85%) patients of them had normal levels of G6PD.It shows that their deficiency had no genetic origin. Base on these findings of this study, the newborns with G6PD deficiency should be checked for thyroid hormones. Moreover, in the hypothyroid patients, checking the level of G6PD is recommended.

Abstract:

In the history of philosophy and philosophers’ thoughts, God has been discussed differently as the unmoved mover, thought of thought, cause of causes, and the first cause. One of the philosophers who greatly influenced the reformist movements of the church in the 16 and 17 centuries was Fancisco Suarez. His book of Metaphysical Disputations, which comprises 54 disputations on some topics such as general ontology and causes and particular ontology and types of cause, holds a supreme place in the history of philosophy. The present study aims to provide an answer to the questions of what place Suarez has allocated to the discussion of God, and which approach he follows in discussing Him. Another question here is whether one can conceptually reduce all the various names that he has chosen for God based on his own philosophy to a single concept. The findings of the study reveal that Suarez considered three places for God: God as the Efficient Cause, God as the Final Cause (in the first volume of Metaphysical Disputations), and God as Being (in the second volume of the same book). Given Suarez’ s definition and explanation for each of these titles, all of them can be explained in terms of an ontological concept and meaning. He follows a philosophical approach to all three stations; however, he also adopts a theological approach to discussing God in the third one and connects the discussion of God to the text of the Holy Book.

Abstract:

One of the most important forest trees in the south of Kerman, which plays an important role in the region's ecosystem and beekeeping industry and is infected by wood-eating beetles, is Prosopis cineraria. These trees are an important habitat for various animals and refreshing the hot air of the south. In the sampling conducted during 1401-1400 from the mesquite forests of southern Kerman (Ghaleganj, Faryab, Anbarabad), the wood-eating beetle Xylopertha reflexicauda (Bostrichidae) was collected for the first time from Prosopis cineraria trees and is identified. The species of wood-eating beetle was identified by reliable scientific sources and was finally confirmed by Mr. Dr. Len Yu Liu. This species was first identified and described by Lesne in 1937. Due to the lack of water and recent droughts and the weakness of Iranian mesquite trees, the larvae of this beetle are active inside the trunk and bark of mesquite trees and feed on the wood and bark of tree trunks and cause great damage to Prosopis cineraria trees.

Abstract:

Backgrounds: Regarding the prevalence of injuries to flexor tendon in Zone II and its known side effects after routine repair, and also with respect to the possible diameter increase of repaired region after repairing with modified Kessler core suture followed by epitenon peripheral suture which in turn could cause problems in tendon motion in Zone II. This study has been developed to determine the efficacy of deep peripheral first suture technique (D.P.F.S.) in patients referring to 15 Khordad Hospital during the academic years of 1996 till 1998. Materials and methods: This clinical trial of semi-experimental type has been carried out on 50 patients suffering from tendon rupture of 70 digits in Zone [I. Patients were followed for 6 months. Strickland classification has been used for result analysis. Results: Among 50 patients with mean age of 30, 70% were male and the remaining 30% were female. Left hand was hurt in 70% of the cases and right hand in 30%. Third finger was the most common site of injury. Rupturing of both superficial and deep tendons was reported in 72% of the cases. Injury to the digital nerve was seen in 34% of the patients. Conclusion: Regarding the satisfactory results obtained in our study, deep peripheral first suture technique (D.P.F.S.) revealed to be a successful method in primary flexor tendon repair in Zone n. In the meanwhile, another clinical trial to compare this technique with other successful routine methods is strongly recommended.

Abstract:

Farabi is a philosopher who, for the first time, by taking a rational interpretation of revelation, took prophecy out of the form of a purely theological issue and included it in philosophical discussions. He, by using the argumentative method, proved generalities about the position of the Prophet, how he related to the unseen world and the characteristics of the Prophet. He did not need to go into detail to express the general laws of prophecy, and necessary did not use well-known religious words to express his views,Rather he substituted a noun for them and constructed imagination. The question in this study is how prophecy is presented in Farabi's works and also what does this new image have to do with the prophecy? In other words, what image did he present of the prophet and prophecy in his philosophy? One of the results of this study after proving the claim that there is no independent subject under the title of prophecy and also not using the word of "Prophet" (except in the first process of forming image) as well as by using Farabi's explanation of relevant, is that Farabi mentions the first chief as the recipient of revelation and taking advantage of commonalities between the definitions made of the first chief and prophet, directs the mind of the audience towards the subject of prophecy. According to his view, the first chief in the utopia corresponds to the Prophet with the condition of absolutely and the similarity between the Prophet and the first chief is confirmed and the challenge of lowering the state of Prophet to that of philosopher disappears in Farabi's view.

Abstract:

Aristotle, who has composed several treatises on physics, metaphysics, and so on, has accepted the reality of motion and change, and reasoned that, since everything that moves is moved by something else, there must have been a First Mover. But how can such a being move the whole universe? Aristotle employs the analogy of a lover and his beloved. According to the traditional philosophical account, the First Mover moves the world by being the final cause not the efficient cause. There has been some evidence for such an account, which is accepted by most of philosophers in the West and the East. The author in this essay attempts to prove that such a construction is imperfect, and Aristotle's first mover is not only a final cause but also an agent cause because, first, Aristotle's argument on the existence of the prime mover entails an agent for motion. Second, Aristotle himself specified the first mover being an agent. Third, the evidence of traditional comment for Aristotle words has been misinterpreted and it doesn't indicate their claim.

Abstract:

Context: Pediatric abusive head trauma (AHT) can be defined as an injury to the skull or intracranial contents of a child under the age of 5 due to inflicted blunt impact or violent shaking.Evidence Acquisition: AHT is the mostcommoncause of traumatic death in children younger than 1 year, and it is the leading cause of death due to child abuse. Clinical presentation observed in children with AHT depends on the type of AHT and accompanying injuries. History and physical examination are important for diagnosing AHT and for distinguishing it from other conditions that can mimic shaken baby syndrome, such as accidental trauma, cancer, metabolic diseases, and others. Results: Progress in research on the medical diagnosis of AHT has been remarkable, while the development of treatment strategies has been limited. For these reasons, there is an urgent need to develop effective treatment strategies for AHT able to improve the outcomes. Conclusions: The construction of a nationwide database that supports clinical studies is required in the future.

Abstract:

Hemichorea-hemiballism (HCHB) syndrome, which is most commonly related to non-ketotic hyperglycemia, is a rare type of chorea. Here, we present an unusual case of HCHB syndrome who was not a known case of diabetes. This case highlights the importance of recognising underlying non-ketotic hyperglycemia, as control of hyperglycemia is helpful in the quick relief of symptoms.

Abstract:

The question of how the multiplicity observed in the world emanates from the First Cause has been a subject of contention and diverse opinions among monotheistic thinkers, particularly Islamic philosophers and theologians. The central issue in this discussion is the Rule of the One (qā'ideh al-wāḥid), which has led to numerous disagreements regarding its validity and interpretations. In this article, using an analytical-descriptive method, some opinions on this issue are first critiqued. Subsequently, to achieve a correct explanation of the creation of multiplicity, the claim of the Principle of Similarity is examined and proven, showing that, contrary to some views, this principle should not be used to prove the Rule of the One (qā'ideh al-wāḥid),rather, the rule can be established by carefully defining the complete cause (illat tāmmeh). After proving that, according to the correct formulation of the qā'ideh al-wāḥid, every single complete cause has a single effect, the manner of creating multiplicity in effects can be explained in a way similar to Khāja Naṣīr's exposition in Sharḥ al-Ishārāt, such that the qā'ideh al-wāḥid is not violated, and the objections of its opponents are not applicable. In the present article, to simplify the understanding of this issue, by proving that the causal relationship is an instance of the function in mathematics, the emanation of multiplicity from the First Cause is modeled, and finally, the advantages of this modeling are stated.
